Glass becomes part of the smart interior.

DGF smart glass with SUPLA control can be operated from a mobile app. Depending on the project, the controller can manage a whole pane or selected zones.

What happens beyond the screen matters most: clearly named devices, useful scenes, a local wall switch and commissioning that makes the system understandable from day one.

How the solution works

SUPLA is not another type of glass. It is the control layer above DGF glass.

The active pane still changes state through 48 V DC power and a PDLC layer. SUPLA adds a Wi-Fi-connected controller, meaningful device names, an app interface and scenes that combine several panes or zones. Users operate room functions rather than anonymous channels.

A good design also retains simple local control. A phone is convenient for scenes, schedules and multiple points, but a switch by the entrance should perform the most common action without opening an app. Remote, local and automated operation are designed as one control logic.

Important: remote operation depends on a correctly configured network and service. If essential operation must remain available without a phone or internet connection, the appropriate local switch and control route must be included explicitly.

The controller connects glass to the network

Each pane or zone is assigned to a channel. The controller sends commands to the glass circuit while the app shows a name that matches the room and function.

The interface mirrors the real layout

With zoned glass, the order and labels in the app match the physical pane. Users immediately understand whether they are switching the lower, middle, upper or full glazed area.

Scenes shorten everyday operation

A “meeting” command can close several partitions, while “end of day” sets all panes to an agreed state. Scenes should reflect routines rather than demonstrate technology for its own sake.

Access is part of the design

A resident, receptionist, floor manager and service technician may need different access. Users, names and handover are defined before commissioning so the system does not depend on one private phone.

Residents retain local switches while the app controls multiple points without walking through the home. 03Who configures the system?

DGF prepares the controller, essential configuration and operating method within the project scope. The user receives a commissioned system and instructions.

04Does the glass work without the internet?

Remote app functions require a working network and service. A local switch can provide essential operation independently of the phone when included and configured in the design. The exact scope is confirmed before commissioning.

05Can several users be added to one installation?

Yes. Access is planned around the site. At home this may include residents; in an office, room users and an administrator. Responsibility for the primary account and documented handover are important.

06Can more panes be added later?

Expansion may be possible, depending on spare channels, device space, power, network and existing documentation. If future growth is expected, it should be allowed for in the diagram and technical space from the outset.

07Can SUPLA be connected to another building-control system?

Integration depends on the devices, available inputs and outputs, protocols and the system integrator’s scope. Compatibility is not assumed from a platform name alone; a diagram, device list and intended operating scenario are required before quotation.

08Who should own the account and configuration after handover?

The primary account should belong to the owner or appointed site administrator rather than an installer’s personal phone. Handover should include agreed device names, channel lists, user roles and the information needed for future operation.

09What determines the cost of SUPLA glass control?

Cost depends on pane and zone count, channels, local switches, controllers, power supplies, scenes, network conditions, user configuration and commissioning scope. A single-pane setup differs substantially from a floor-wide installation.
